PARAGUAY

Paraguay keeps pushing forward to position itself as one of the main meat producers and exporters worldwide.
This is made possible due to the fact that meat quality is gaining in importance over meat quantity, a direct result of the conquest of new premium markets.
For meat exports to Europe, Paraguay is active through the Hilton Quota, which includes only premium cuts and hence better prices.
As reported by the representative authorities of the sector, so far only 1,000 tons of premium meat cuts per year can be exported to the EU via this method.
The idea is to increase that volume to 5,000 tons, representing a 400% increase.
Paraguay is taking the necessary steps to obtain the preferential quota for beef exports to the European Union, called Quota 481.
This will be of great benefit for meat producers as all cuts can be exported for a better price.
Looking to the Asian market, Paraguay recently received a positive review from the Taiwanese auditors, enabling the export of larger volumes to said country.
Paraguay can now send around 7,000 tons of meat per year to the Asian nation after the control visit of the field experts.
In addition, the Paraguayan Chamber of Meat (CPC) will open an office in Continental China in order to position the highly valued product in this important global market, aiming to strengthen the commercial ties with the Asian countries.
Thanks to an 8% growth of the cattle heard, Paraguay will close the year exporting more beef than Uruguay, Argentina and Mexico among others.
According to the latest report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Paraguay will export about 390,000 tonnes.
The annual average growth rate of the last five years is 6%. Under the current conditions, it is estimated that the herd will exceed the 20 million heads by 2020.
The expected growth will require increased slaughter capacity and storage as well as improved logistics and export infrastructure.
The exponential increase of the world population, and the subsequent increasing demand for raw materials, generates great pressure on natural resources of any country.
The impacts and consequences can be positive or negative, depending on the management of natural resources and the distribution of the generated wealth.
In the article “Natural resources subsidize Paraguayan economy”, one can see a concrete example of how natural resources represent a highly crosscutting issue in the historical, economic, social and democratic implications.

CARIBBEAN

The Farm is one of the preeminent cattle operations in Caribbean.
The farm enjoys a microclimate favorable to the production of year-round pasture.
Two of the most important rivers in the country, traverses the farm.
Additionally, there are dozens of springs and small creeks, feeding their crystalline waters into these major arteries.
The farm is approximately eleven hundred and twenty-five acres (7,300 tareas), cross-fenced into over forty pastures, almost all of it with new wire and live posts.
Each pasture has live water. About half the land is flat to gently rolling; the other half is hilly, but not too steep to graze.
The grass grows so fast, cattle can often be rotated back to a grazed pasture after thirty days.

LIVESTOCK & FACILITIES

The Farm is currently running over 500 head of cattle-Brahma, Brown Swiss, and Holstein Crosses- with the reserve capacity for nearly twice that number.
Most cows can raise a calf and be milked once daily, all on grass, with no additional feeds.
The farm can be run as an all-beef operation with the existing livestock.
The working pens are first-rate, made of concrete and steel.
The plan is to double the production in the next three years.

MAIN HOUSE

The house was built using local materials. On a concrete slab, with a pole structure, hand-split royal palm siding, and a tied-thatch roof, the house is an artisanal gem, cool on the hottest day and quiet in the heaviest rainstorm.
